Berin is taking in horses for Foundation Training. This includes colts that have been started and are ready for further development and horses that you would like to have a solid foundation on. Also horses that you are having a specific problem with.
Foundation Training is putting a solid training foundation on your horse to further develop the horse mentally, emotionally and physically. It is building their confidence and developing their understanding through the tasks at hand.
Foundation training is a continuation of further development of your horses self- confidence understanding and respect. This is obtained through helping the horse to thoughly understand the ingredients of the tasks that are asked and to set them up to become problem solvers so they are able to respond to pressure rather than to react from pressure.
For a horse to become well rounded Berin will develop them in four different areas of learning. These are On-Line, Liberty, Freestyle and Finesse.
Berin will focus on having the horse to be confidant, willing and to have rhythm and relaxation through all gaits. This will be obtained through the following:
- Both riding and on¬-line
- Following Focus
- Understanding Patterns
- Forwards, backwards, right and left while on-line and riding
- Trailer loading
- Under, over, around and through obstacles
- Opening and closing gates
- Riding alone and in groups
- Riding with a loose rein and with contact
- Understanding leg and seat aids and cues
These are the key ingredients to develop the horse and to get them ready for any performance training.
We need to have a good foundation on our horses before specialization. Specialization is developing the horse for a particular discipline or area that you have chosen an interest in.
For a solid foundation, Berin will require a minimum 10-week commitment.
Berin also takes on difficult horses, both on-line (trailer loading etc) and Riding.
